D&D 5e Guides & Tips

Frequently Asked Questions

How does weight tracking work in ScryMarket?
ScryMarket automatically calculates encumbrance based on D&D 5e RAW rules. Every item has its weight from the SRD, and the system tracks your total against your carrying capacity (Strength × 15). You'll see warnings when approaching encumbered status.
What is weight+slots mode?
Weight+slots mode tracks both weight AND inventory slots simultaneously - including container-based slot limits. A high-Strength fighter might hit their slot limit (too many items) before their weight limit, while a high-Dexterity rogue might run out of weight capacity first. It adds strategic depth to inventory management without complex rules.
Are all 800+ items from the official SRD?
Yes, all items come from the D&D 5e Systems Reference Document (SRD) published by Wizards of the Coast under the OGL. This includes weapons, armor, adventuring gear, tools, and magical items with their official weights, costs, and properties.
How do magical containers like Bags of Holding work?
ScryMarket fully supports extradimensional containers. A Bag of Holding has its own capacity limits (500 lbs, 64 cubic feet) and items inside don't count toward your character's encumbrance. The bag itself weighs 15 lbs regardless of contents.
Can I use ScryMarket with other VTTs like Roll20 or Foundry?
ScryMarket is a standalone inventory manager designed to complement any VTT or in-person play. While there's no direct integration yet, ScryMarket works great alongside your VTT for dedicated inventory tracking and party coordination via our Discord bot.
