Overview

This guide covers practical inventory management: creating containers, adding items, organizing gear, and working with your party.

Understanding Containers

Containers are storage locations for items, such as backpacks, pouches, and chests. Inventory changes depend on the container and your party role.

Extradimensional Containers

Some magic items, such as a Bag of Holding, have interior space that does not add to your encumbrance. In bulk mode, mark a container as extradimensional to exclude its contents from your character’s bulk.

Adding Items

From the Item Picker

The Item Picker is a slide-out panel for discovering and adding items to any container.

Web:

1. Open a character inventory or the party inventory.
2. In an expanded container, select Add item. On a character sheet, use the add item control on the container.
3. The Add Items picker offers Marketplace, My Items, and Collections. In party inventory, it can also show Table library, All content, and Party, depending on party library settings and available items.
4. Search or browse, select an item, choose a quantity in the inline add controls, and confirm.

Creating Custom Items

When you cannot find what you need in the marketplace, use Quick Create inside the Item Picker:

Web:

1. Open Add Items from an inventory container.
2. Choose Quick Create Item.
3. Enter a name and any details you want, including description, system, type, rarity, base value, and weight.
4. Choose Create & Add to create the template and add an item to the selected container, or Create Only to save the template without adding it.

For more detailed item creation, choose Open full editor at the bottom of the Quick Create form.

If no marketplace match is found, choose Create Custom and complete the form. Nothing is created until you submit it.

Managing Items

Common Actions

Select an item to open its detail panel. Available actions depend on your permissions and the item’s state:

Moving Items Between Containers

Drag and drop: On the web, drag an item to another container. You can move items among your own containers and, where your role permits, between character inventories and the Party Stash. On wide screens, the party inventory shows characters and Party Stash in columns; on narrower screens, use the Characters and Party Stash tabs. You can also drag an item onto a compatible stack to merge it, subject to the party’s stack cap setting.

Move dialog: Select an item and choose Move. Select a destination character or container, choose a quantity if the stack has more than one item, and confirm the transfer.

Discord: /inventory opens the inventory console. Use /give to transfer an item to another player or party, subject to the command’s available destinations and your permissions.

When an inventory transaction sends a notification, the person who made the change is excluded. Other recipients depend on the transaction and whether the related shop, loot, or party content is visible to them.

An item in an inventory is a separate copy from its source template. Archiving the source template does not remove or lock that inventory copy. You can edit the copy where your role and the item’s state allow it; this does not restore the archived template.

Creating Containers

Web Interface

1. To add a character container, open that character’s inventory and select Add Container. The character owner, a GM, or a manager can do this.
2. To add a shared container, open the Party Stash and select Add. This control is available to GMs and managers.
3. Enter a name and optional description. Set capacity fields that apply to the party’s encumbrance mode; blank means no limit.
4. In bulk mode, you can also set Bulk Limit, Bulk Negation, and Extradimensional.
5. In the New Container form, click Create.

Setting Limits

Capacity fields only appear for the party’s encumbrance mode. A blank limit means no limit:

• Weight limit: Maximum total weight (blank = no limit)
• Slot limit: Maximum item stacks (blank = no limit)
• Bulk limit: Maximum bulk for PF2e games (blank = no limit)

You can delete a container only when it is empty. Move or remove its items first. The Equipped system container cannot be deleted.

Encumbrance Indicators

Capacity indicators show how full a container or character is for the party’s encumbrance mode. Character totals include the containers visible to you. Your GM can configure the party’s encumbrance thresholds in party settings.

Party Collaboration

Giving Items

Move an item to another character:

1. Click an item to open its detail panel
2. Click Move
3. Select the recipient character and target container
4. Choose a quantity (for stacks)
5. Confirm the transfer

Via drag and drop: Drag an item onto a visible destination container. The server enforces your access to the source and destination.

Viewing Party Inventory

Web: Open the party’s Inventory page. You can see party-visible character containers and shared party containers. Private character containers are visible only to their owner, GMs, managers, and admins. Your characters appear in the character roster, alongside other party characters.

GM Tools

GMs and managers can add or edit shared party containers and manage character inventories. The party inventory More menu provides Print full set and Export CSV to GMs and managers.

CSV Export

GMs and managers can export the party inventory as a CSV. Open More at the top of the inventory page and select Export CSV. The export includes character, container, item, quantity, weight, value, unit value, and rarity columns.

Print inventory cards

Use inventory printing when you want the party’s current item copies instead of the marketplace templates they came from.

• On the party inventory page, open a character’s options and choose Print cards for that character.
• GMs and managers can open More and choose Print full set for items across the party characters and shared stash.
• If Card Studio contains another deck, choose Replace Deck, Add to Deck, or Cancel.

1. Create purpose-specific containers for easier mid-session access
2. Put currency in its own container for quick shop transactions
3. Use party containers for shared resources like rope, rations, torches
4. Review before sessions to organize when not under time pressure

Common Questions

Can I create containers? Character owners can create containers for their own characters. GMs and managers can create character and shared party containers.

What if I am overencumbered? Capacity indicators show your encumbrance. Whether a limit prevents an inventory change depends on the party’s encumbrance settings and the action.

Can I use ScryRPG entirely from Discord? The bot supports inventory actions such as viewing inventory, adding and removing items, changing an item’s quantity, and giving items. Container setup, visual organization, and drag and drop are available on the web.

How do stacks work? A stack groups items in one inventory row. Use Split Stack to divide a stack, or drag one compatible stack onto another to merge them. Party settings can enforce maximum stack sizes.

What is an extradimensional container? A container whose contents do not count toward your character’s encumbrance. Available in PF2e/bulk mode parties for items like Bags of Holding.

Item Identification

GMs and managers can give any item a mystery appearance or disguise it as an ordinary item, spawn new mystery items with a 3-step wizard, and manage identification requests. Players see and use the item as its appearance until it is identified; using it sends the GM a request instead. An item reveal can show a Scrying Reveal animation. Party-scope reveals are broadcast to the party in real time; owner-only reveals go to the item owner’s notifications.
